Will a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT be shown during the Super Bowl?
Believe it or not, this is one of the wagers bettors can put money on in Las Vegas for this year’s Super Bowl. It is actually part of Caesar Sportsbook's official wagering menu for the 2022 Super Bowl.
For those ‘in the know’, the Bored Apes have emerged as one of the most successful NFT projects yet. The owners and creators, Yuga Labs, recently pitched Andreessen Horowitz for funding at a $5 Billion valuation. That’s billion with a B.
To me, the speculation on this wager demonstrates the breakneck speed with which the NFT space has grown. Much like the dotcom era over 20 years ago, when no one really knew what ‘www.dotcom” meant, the term and the concept were suddenly everywhere.
BTW, the list of commercials for the Super Bowl XXXIV included autotrader.com and monster.com., and of course the infamous Pets.com, which subsequently flamed out big time. Does history tell us something?
Now we’re on the brink of another technology and cultural change that is about to change our lives and how we do things in much the same way. Think of everything that is now Internet-based - business, entertainment, sports, banking, home security, health and wellness….the list goes on and on. At that time, very few had the vision to ‘see’ the future. You heard comments like, “I would NEVER put my credit card number on the Internet!” And yet, today, not only is the Internet the center of everything, but the Internet on your phone is the center of your world.
I am confident that NFTs are set to change our lives as radically as what occurred 20 years ago. I’m writing a book about this new and exciting time that will not only be about NFTs but will be released as an NFT.
In the meantime, how much would you wager on whether a Bored Ape NFT will appear in this year’s big game? Should be fun to watch!
